RichardMarx's second album is almost as strong as his first, even if it shows that his songwriting has a tendency to slip into sappy, saccharine clichés. Nevertheless, it contains some major hit singles -- "Satisfied," "Right Here Waiting," "Angelia," "Children

Bring Back the Mullet I have always loved memoirs and biographies. They are my favorite reading genre. My life is pretty mundane and boring. I love living vicariously through others. Richard Marx’s albums were playing on the radio and his videos on MTV and VH1 while I was in middle school and high school. The 80s and 90s gave us some of the best love ballads of all time. Right Here Waiting is still one of my favorite songs by Richard Marx. Chi-City Richard Marx was born and raised in Chicago. I have never been to Chicago, but it is home to many famous entertainers from the 80s and 90s including John Hughes, Robin Williams, John Cusack, Bill Murray, The Smashing Pumpkins, Peter Cetera and of course, one of the most successful bands of the 1980s…wait for it…Chicago. Dude! My Friend Knows A Guy Richard Marx is the guy you hear about who sent his demo tape with the guy of the guy who knows the guy and becomes a success story. In this case THE GUY was Lionel Ritchie. He listened and he reached out to a very young Richard Marx who ended up as a background singer on many of Lionel’s songs including All Night Long. Richard is the voice singing All niiiight…All niiiight. Show Me The Money Working with Lionel Ritchie led to Richard meeting Kenny Rogers. Richard had written a little song called “Crazy” you may have heard it that Kenny ended up recording and it became a number 1 hit on the Billboard Country singles chart in 1985. Kenny Rogers asked for two words to be added to the end of the song and then took half of the writing credit. Richard says he was happy to share the song credit with Kenny. As he writes, “a hundred percent of nothing is nothing.” They end up collaborating on more music and stay friends until Kenny’s death on March 20, 2020. I Would Love to Write A Song For You Richard Marx goes on to have a successful career and continues to have writing and producing credits on many songs you have listened to by other artist including, but not limited to, Luther Vandross Dance With My Father, Keith Urban Better Life, Barbra Streisand and Vince Gill If You Ever Leave Me, *NSYNC This I Promise You – Richard is a fan of Justin Timberlake’s work ethic and Josh Groban To Where You Are Note Linda Thompson was a huge part in the making of this song. There Once Was A Girl Band Called Vixen He has an interesting story involving the song Edge of a Broken Heart performed by the band Vixen. He is the writer and producer of this song. Unfortunately, he and Jan Kuehnemund, the guitarist for the group, had a falling out while working on this song. Jan has since passed away from cancer. Richard Marx Dances Dirty I was hoping he would have written a little about his twenty five year marriage to Cynthia Rhodes. Cynthia was an actress in the 1980s. I would say she is known mostly for her role as Penny in Dirty Dancing. He writes “she was and is a great mother to our three boys.” That is all we are getting folks. He seems very happy with his second wife Daisy Fuentes. They have been married since 2015. Richard Marx Doesn’t Follow Hockey Richard’s tour overseas at the height of his career sounds like the making of a Hollywood action film. There were some good stories regarding Wayne Gretzky, Olivia Newton John, Barbra Streisand, Whitney Houston, Madonna and a crazy Elton John incident. There was some drama with Kenny Loggins within the book. We find out Luther Vandross had actual cashmere walls in his living room. Also, Prince used to shoot some hoops back in the day. Fans Over Health This book begins and ends with him discussing some health issues that seem to not have been resolved. Songs Keep Playing In My Head He says he doesn’t plan to ever retire. All three of his sons are involved with the music industry. I am sure we will hear more from them in the future. Where Was Joan Rivers When I Needed Her Overall, this book was fine. Richard seems too much a gentleman to write anything scandalous and that is refreshing, if not boring. 2 thoughts on “STORIES TO TELL – RICHARD MARX” Ohhh loved learning more about Richard Marx! Had no clue he was behind some of those other songs. Right?!? He is an amazing song writer. It was incredible how quickly he could get his words down on paper and have it ready for production.
